What is Coronavirus?

Coronaviruses are types of pathogen or viruses that affect the respiratory tracts of birds and mammals including humans. It is associated with the common cold, bronchitis, pneumonia, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARA) and they also affect the gut.

It is mostly responsible for the common colds more than serious diseases. However, coronaviruses are also behind some more severe outbreaks. Since it’s inception scientists have discovered that coronavirus can infect mice, rats, dogs, cats, turkeys, horses, pigs, and cattle. These animals can transmit the virus to humans, even consuming them can cause transmission from one organism to the next.

Symptoms of the Coronavirus

Cold or flu-like symptoms usually set in from 2-4 days after a coronavirus infection and are typically mild. However, symptoms vary from person to person and some forms of the virus can be fatal.

Symptoms include :

  • Sneezing

  • Runny nose

  • Fatigue

  • Cough

  • Sore throat

  • Exacerbated asthma

Transmission of the Coronavirus
The virus is highly contagious. It is transmitted by the coughs and sneezes from an infected person or touching an infected object.

Preventative Measures
There is no cure, so treatments inclusive-care and over the counter medication. People can take several steps, including :

  • Resting and avoid overexertion
  • Drinking enough water
  • Avoid smoking and smoky areas a clean
  • Using a humidifier or cool mist vaporizer
